Author Jennifer Tranton described Monster in the Hollows best when she stated, “So Moving! A Fantastic Story.” She spoke nothing but the truth. I was worried about starting this Andrew Peterson novel because I had not read any of the other Wingfeather Saga stories. Surprisingly, I followed along very well, but it took me a little while to find out who the characters were, and I ended up getting it before the third or fourth chapter! This book is absolutely great! Peterson really did a great job at describing the scenery and characters, and even though it’s targeted for a younger audience, everyone would enjoy it! I have no doubt. What I really enjoyed was the fact that I felt like I was in the story, and I really related to the characters. He made me feel like I was in Anniera.

I don’t read a lot, but with this one I couldn’t put it down! Every chapter left me hanging and I got so pulled into the story. I started reading, and the next thing I know I’m on chapter 19! I don’t think I’ve ever read so much in one sitting. All the twists and turns were what I really enjoyed, because you would think one thing was happening, and Peterson would take it in a totally different direction. There were MANY surprises along the way.

If you enjoy thrillers and suspenseful novels, you will absolutely LOVE Monster in the Hollows. It will keep you guessing like no other story you’ve ever read. If you think you know the ending, then you are totally and completely not even close, and that just shows what a fantastic writer Peterson really is. I highly recommend this installation of the series.
