In May, Gloria Gaither was honored with an Honorary Doctorate in Music from Nyack College in New York, a Christian liberal arts school. “At our Nyack College commencement, we intentionally honor leaders in various sectors of society who exemplify the kind of lifestyle our graduates can aim for as they move into the next phase of God’s plan for their lives,” says Michael Scales. “Mrs. Gaither is one stellar example of the integration of faith and learning at the deepest levels.” The college’s music department was formally established in 1938, and Nyack was the rst institution in New York state authorized to grant a Bachelor of Sacred Music degree. This Honorary Doctorate in Music is Gloria’s seventh honorary doctorate degree.
