'Feeling at Home: The Back Porch Sessions'

After winning Country Album of the Year at 2012’s Dove Awards for Dreamin’ Wide Awake and Male Vocalist of the Year at the Absolutely Gospel Music Awards, EHSS’s Doug Anderson decided to relax on the back porch. Well, sort of. He began work on a new solo project, Feeling at Home: The Back Porch Sessions. Doug loves spending time there with family and friends, so he brought the microphones outside, recording half of the sessions right on — you guessed it — his back porch. “We often gather around the fi re and just sing until nightfall. I had the idea to try to recreate that atmosphere on a project and give insight into what ‘back porch perfect’ is to us,” he says. Doug invited several friends to join him, including Gloria Gaither, who does a reading on a great arrangement of “Gentle Shepherd.” He also enjoyed working with Gloria’s son, Benjy Gaither, with whom he penned the songs “Home” and “Back Porch Perfect.” Ladye Love Smith lends her beautiful sound to Carole King’s “You’ve Got a Friend,” and Doug is joined by Bill Gaither, Woody Wright, Ernie Haase, Wayne Haun and his own daughters, Isabel and Emma, on Neil Diamond’s “Song Sung Blue.”
