I love the quote in the banner above, because it's good to be reminded how much we need Jesus (and sometimes coffee, too!) In the hard times, it's obvious how much we need Him, as in the cancer battle Joey + Rory are facing now or the health troubles Claude Hopper is facing (see below).

Annie Sherwood Hawks wrote the lyrics to the classic hymn "I Need Thee Every Hour" in 1872. And, interestingly enough, it was not during one of life's crises, but during an ordinary moment that she was inspired, as she wrote: "One day as a young wife and mother of 37 years of age, I was busy with my regular household tasks during a bright June morning. Suddenly, I became so filled with the sense of nearness to the Master that, wondering how one could live without Him, either in joy or pain, these words were ushered into my mind, the thought at once taking full possession of me ... 'I Need Thee Every Hour.'"

In times when things are rolling right along and going well, it can be easy to take Him for granted. But oh, how we need Him!

A thought from the Word...

But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.
