For the Nov/Dec issue of Homecoming, we decided to focus on the theme of giving ... not gifts at Christmastime (which will be here before we know it!), but the everyday acts of kindness that we can do for others. These small blessings not only make the recipient feel good, but of course, they also bring our own hearts a little more joy!

And speaking of kindness to others, we are hearing great things about the new movie The Good Lie. It is the true story of a small group of Sudanese Christians who walk hundreds of miles to escape violence in their country and are given the chance to re-settle in America. Reese Witherspoon's character helps the four young “Lost Boys” to adjust to life in the U.S. While not an overtly faith-based film, there are underlying themes of faith. The refugees rely on their faith throughout all their struggles, and Witherspoon’s character works closely with a faith-based agency to place refugees with families. Click here for a preview!

A thought from the Word ...

And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
