Signs of spring are everywhere ... the early blooming daffodils are proudly waving their yellow heads, bright young cardinals chase each other through the trees and the grass is nearly ripe for the first mowing. As we prepare to celebrate Easter or Resurrection Day, the day when our Savior triumphed over death and made all things new, let's rejoice in His reminders of life all around us in nature. And let's allow Him to put to death whatever may be holding us back and to breathe new life into our relationship with Him and with others.
We love the suggestion from Ann Voskamp, the author of the wonderful book One Thousand Gifts, for creating a "repentance box" to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. She writes, "We create a quiet corner to come write out our confessions, scratch down our repentances, tuck them away in the dark of a tomb-box … and come Easter morning, we leave the box empty too, burn all our sins away, and hope rises from our ashes." What a creative way to honor the new life that only He can give!
We'd like to congratulate Sharon Shipley, the winner of a prize package provided by THE BIBLE miniseries for our recent giveaway. We have another exciting contest in this newsletter, so keep reading!
A thought from the Word...
Romans 6: 3-4
Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
