What are you doing this week? Planting a garden? Taking care of a child? Reading a great book? Going to a Gaither concert? Whatever you find yourself doing, we hope that your days will be punctuated with moments of joy and gratitude.

Homecoming favorite Janet Paschal posted this on her Facebook page last week, and we just had to share it:

“Hey everybody,
Gloria Gaither called me last night. She and Bill were at the pond taking pictures of the baby swans and listening to them whistle or squawk, or whatever baby swans do. At first I thought it funny that these legends of song found that interesting; secondly, I realized that is probably WHY they are song legends.”
Well said, Janet!

Congratulations to the winners of our “Bring Love Home” contest – Patty J., Dixie P. and Rhonda C.! Great job, ladies! We received so many touching, funny and creative stories about memories our readers shared with mothers and grandmothers that we created a page here to showcase some of them. Thanks to all who entered!

A thought from the Word:

Psalm 96: 11-12

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.

The theme for the upcoming July/August issue of Homecoming Magazine is “life as a picnic.” As we know, our attitude has a huge impact on our daily lives. We can view ordinary events as mundane, or we can look more closely to see the beauty within, or to create it. Little things can make a difference—fresh flowers on the table, a surprise note hidden for someone, an extra little surprise or toy in a child’s lunchbox or breaking out the good china to enjoy a cup of hot tea with a friend on a rainy day. Here’s our question for you: How do you create that magic in your life, or do you have a special memory of a time when you did?  Or, can you tell us about how someone else created that magic for you, to brighten up an ordinary day? We’d love to hear, and your answer may even appear in the upcoming issue of Homecoming Magazine! To answer, click here.

If you haven't yet heard, please pray for Tim and Melissa Duncan. Their son Breck was involved in a head-on collision on May 13th and had serious injuries. Tim posted a prayer request on his Facebook page on the 13th, as follows:

We are asking for everyone to please pray for our oldest son Breck. He had a head-on collision this evening and was life-flighted to Vanderbilt Trauma Center. He is currently in ICU with multiple facial fractures, fractured foot and fractured L5 vertebrae. We are now waiting to see what time he will be going to surgery. We are praying but we are also THANKING God for having his hands on him today!
