Hello, Homecoming family!

We hope you all had a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend, enjoying time with loved ones.  Did you grill out? Do some traveling? Attend a parade or spend some time with a veteran? It's a good thing to celebrate freedom and to remember those who have given all to ensure it. Of course, Jesus laid down His own life so that we could experience true freedom in Him.  And America's freedom has long been protected by brave men and women who made decisions to risk (and sometimes give) everything for the good of their country. We are forever grateful.

A thought from the Word...

Galatians 5:13

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.

Father's Day is drawing near (June 17th), and we wanted to honor all the wonderful dads and granddads out there by having a contest! You can click here to enter our "Father Knows Best" contest and let us know the best advice you ever received from your father or grandfather. First prize includes a copy of Max Lucado's The Lucado Inspirational Reader, Wes Hampton's CD A Man Like Me, the Hoppers' Hymns CD and a Homecoming Magazine mug! The deadline is Thursday, June 7th by noon (CST), so get those entries in now!
Many album releases are happening soon, so we thought we'd let you know about a few of them. Of course, the Oak Ridge Boys just released their newest, Back Home Again (Gaither Music/EMI CMG), but they'll release another one on June 19th called Gospel Gems (AAO Music/Fontana/EMI CMG)...those guys stay busy! Other projects releasing on the 19th are In the Savior's Hands (Horizon/Crossroads) from the Inspirations, Precious Seed (Horizon/Crossroads) from the McKameys, Hands of Time featuring Anthony Burger and God Bless the USA (Spring House/EMI CMG), a wonderful compilation of patriotic classics from Gaither Homecoming Friends. Lots of great listening for June!
Have you heard of SocialCam?  It's a free smartphone app used for creating and sharing videos, Well, some of the Homecoming Friends have discovered it and are enjoying creating their own videos, with entertaining results! For example, you might enjoy this one by Aaron Crabb (with guest Amanda Crabb)...it's called "Should I or Shouldn't I?" Or check out this video posted yesterday by Mark Lowry, where he discusses his "freckles" and makes a shocking announcement about someone leaving the Homecoming tour...
We are excited about our first feature article with the Booth Brothers, coming up in the July/August issue! You'll find out what they're up to these days, including a new album project of Gaither songs! Just to whet your appetite, here are a couple of tidbits about the guys: When asked where they like to stop and eat on the road, there was NO hesitation: Cracker Barrel! They go there so often that they refer to it as their "office"! Gotta love that all-day breakfast. We also asked if Ron Booth Sr. is still performing, and Ronnie let us know that his dad is retired, playing golf and enjoying "being Pawpaw to eight grandsons." Bet he's teaching those little guys how to sing parts, wouldn't you guess?
