Something really touched my heart this week; I watched a video of Mark Lowry's sweet mother Beverly, surrounded by her family and singing the hymns she loves. She suffers from dementia, but she has not forgotten her Savior's name. What a blessing! We've included that as one of our SocialCam picks this week, as you can read below.

And that reminded me of all the caregivers who spend weeks, months and years caring for the elderly, the infirm and the handicapped. If you are a caregiver or know someone who is, we have put together a great prize package! First, we have the book Strength for the Moment by Lori Hogan, a wonderful book of stories and inspiration just for caregivers. (More info about that book can be found here.) We'll also include the books The Homecoming Birthday Book and A Homecoming Christmas...and we'll throw in a Homecoming coffee mug with some delicious hot chocolate mix for those chilly days coming soon! To enter, just send an email to with the words "Caregiver Contest" in the subject line. Please include either your name and address or the name and address of the person to whom it should be mailed. We'll have a drawing for one winner on Tues., Sept. 25, so enter now!

A thought from the Word...

Psalms 121:1-2

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Continuing our interview series with the Hoppers, we’re featuring Dean Hopper this week! (If you’d like to read the previous interviews, click here for Connie’s and here for Kim’s.) Dean has been mighty busy with touring, NQC and preparing to release their new CD, Count Me In, on October 22. But he still made time to chat about some great things God has been doing lately…check it out here, plus we have a preview of the title cut from the new CD!
And speaking of good music, you may want to get a head start on your Christmas shopping . . . David Phelps’ Joy, Joy comes out as a re-release today, and it would make a great gift for anyone needing a little holiday spirit! And Michael English’s new solo album, Some People Change, is now available for preorder! You can hear a clip of the title song and order the CD on Michael's website.
Our SocialCam picks are centered around last week’s National Quartet Convention; but first, if you haven’t yet heard, 2013 will be the last year the convention will be held in Louisville, Kentucky. Plans are underway to make 2013’s NQC one of the biggest celebrations of the event’s 55-year history, before the event moves to Pigeon Forge, Tenn. in 2014. If you missed seeing the list of winners for the First Annual NQC Music Awards, you can find that here. And now, we have found some fun SocialCam moments from NQC 2012, plus we've included a very touching video of Mark Lowry's mama surrounded by her family and singing hymns from her heart.
