Lauren Talley Alvey, of the Talleys, has already worn a number of hats in her busy career: accomplished vocalist, author, producer, arranger, voice/performance coach and studio background singer. Along with performing on stage with the Talleys, Lauren has an extensive solo career and has recorded four solo albums. Her latest, Songs In The Night, accompanies her first book of the same title. Lauren has been honored with three Singing News Fan Awards, two SGN Music Awards and a Southern Gospel Music award for her individual work.
Now, this talented young lady can add another accomplishment to that already lengthy list. In May, she received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree in Worship Arts from Laurel University in High Point, N.C. on May 11, where she also performed special music and delivered the commencement address to the graduates. "I know it's because of God's grace that I'm here today," she told the audience. "I said yes to Him all those years ago, and He did everything else."
Plans are underway for Lauren to work with the Worship Arts department of Laurel University, periodically providing special master classes and guest seminars.
