Karen Peck & New River recently had a terrific time visiting California for the 58th annual Grammy Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles. Their album, Pray Now, was nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Roots Gospel Album, making this KPNR's fourth Grammy nomination. Pray Now, produced by Wayne Haun, received a Dove Award for Southern Gospel Album of the Year, and the title cut reached No. 1 on multiple charts.

The Grammy ended up going  to the Fairfield Four (Still Rockin' My Soul), but Karen and the gang had a great time nonetheless, seeing the local sights and rubbing elbows with celebrities. One highlight was meeting Oscar-nominated actor Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean), who overheard KPNR giving an interview on the red carpet. When the Kentucky-born Depp heard Karen's deep Southern drawl, he stopped to ask where the group was from, and he and Karen chatted about their mutual Southern roots.

After the ceremony, the group visited with fellow Grammy nominees from the gospel genre, Jason Crabb, Kirk Franklin, J. Moss and others. KPNR also took time to tour downtown Hollywood and had fun seeing the names of their favorites on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And they had a blast dining at two iconic restaurants — the famed fast-food eatery, In-N-Out Burger; and the more upscale Miceli's, Hollywood's oldest Italian restaurant, whose former patrons include Dean Martin and many other Hollywood legends.

At the trip's conclusion, Karen posted, "We did not win the Grammy but we have had such an amazing experience being here!"
