Andy ditches his phone and has an actual face-to-face chat with one of his favorites — the amazing Sandi Patty. Sandi’s latest project is Broadway Stories which features songs from iconic musicals such as The Music Man and Hello Dolly.

Sandi and I have become fast friends as members of the Women of Faith tour the past two years. (I am the lone man at the two-day event!) Therefore, this interview is being conducted at dinner, backstage in Kansas City!

ANDY: OK, sister! I’m gonna start you off with an easy one… What’s your favorite color?

SANDI: Red.

ANDY: The questions get a little harder from here. What is the definition of “osmosis”?

SANDI: What?!

ANDY: Just kidding. What is your favorite movie of all time?

SANDI: Beaches or It’s a Wonderful Life.

ANDY: Do you have any recurring dreams?

SANDI: Actually, yes. Believe it or not, I often dream that I am back in school and can’t get my locker open!

ANDY: Seriously? What does that mean?

SANDI: I think it has to do with my fear of being unprepared.

ANDY: Who is your favorite Disney Princess?

SANDI: (Laughing) Sleeping Beauty. And where do you come up with these questions?

ANDY: Well, that one came from Laura!

(NOTE: We are sitting at a table with Patsy Clairmont, Lisa Whelchel, Mandisa, Marilyn Meburg, Brenda Warner, Amy Grant and Laura Stephens.)

ANDY: Here’s a question from Mandisa… Is there a song you’ve always wanted to record but never have?

SANDI: Yes. “The Wind Beneath My Wings.”

ANDY: I would ask why, but there might be a deep psychological reason and we probably don’t have time to hear the story! (Everyone laughs) Sooo… with whom would you love to do a duet?

SANDI: My husband Don. Or Barbra Streisand!

ANDY: Did you have a favorite childhood pet?

SANDI:  I did! It was my dog Heidi. She was a little black “something.”

ANDY: Ahh…I’ve seen those and they are quite beautiful. Sad, though, that they’ve not yet been recognized by the American Kennel Club.(laughing) What is your dream car?

SANDI: A red Lexus convertible. But I won’t have one until all the World Vision babies have been sponsored.

ANDY: Who is your favorite emcee of all time?

SANDI: My daughter Anna Trent.

ANDY: I actually knew that…I just wanted to get a plug in for Anna. She IS great! Moving along, if you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

SANDI: Ice cream.

ANDY: What kind?

SANDI: The cold kind.

ANDY: (Laughing) I am right there with you! Last question… do you have a favorite quote?

SANDI: Yes. It’s from John Lennon, I believe, and it is perfect. “Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans.”

ANDY: Sister, I love you and your whole family. It has been an honor to spend so many Friday nights on stage with you. You’re the best!
