This new story centers around recently widowed Ellie King (Natalie Hall), who visits her small-town sheriff brother, Aaron Davis (Greg Vaughan), and his two children during the Christmas holiday season. She enjoys meeting the locals and catches the eye of deputy sheriff Michael (Dylan Bruce). Agreeing to watch her niece and nephew while Aaron travels out of town on business, Ellie’s seasonal festivities are threatened when a corrupt attorney in town frames a young man for arson and she must step in to help prove his innocence. Adding to the turmoil, Aaron goes missing. When all seems lost, Ellie perseveres and not only receives a holiday miracle but also the chance at a new life.
Like the other films in the Love Comes Softly saga, Love’s Christmas Journey is inspirational and family-oriented, with themes of faith, the importance of community, perseverance through hardship and wholesome romance. It is a great story for families to enjoy together, without fear of bad language or suggestive imagery. You can also find an online Biblical companion guide to the film here, which raises thought-provoking questions for families or church groups to discuss.
