Nashville, TN — In mid-December, Gaither Homecoming friend Mark Lowry took time out of his hectic holiday travel schedule to surprise 150 children who are in foster care in Middle Tennessee.
Mark performed traditional Christmas favorites, shared the story of “Piper the Mouse,” told some jokes, and closed with his signature song “Mary, Did You Know” to a thunderous response from the crowd.
The event was the annual gala hosted by The Fire Place Fellowship Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee, for the Camelot Foster Care organization. About 60 sets of foster parents and nearly 150 children participated the “God and Country Christmas” event, which featured a lavish meal and lots of carnival games. Plus, every child received presents, a blanket and a stuffed toy animal.
“We are so grateful to our church family and our corporate sponsors for helping us make this amazing event happen,” shared Pastors Robb and Shanda Tripp. “And the generosity of Mark Lowry to sacrifice his time and talent for these kids is overwhelming! We are humbled that he would come be part of this event!”
