Michael English's Father Passes Away
Contributor Two Contributor Two
It is a sad time for Gaither Vocal Band singer Michael English, who lost his dear 80-year-old father on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. Clifton Aubine English was a hardworking, caring man who was dedicated to his faith in God, his family and his community. This beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend enjoyed singing gospel music and started a group in the '70s called the Singing Samaritans. His son Michael, son Biney (formerly of the Statesmen and the Anchormen) and Terry Carter of the Anchormen were among the members of the group.

"I've lost my hero, my biggest influence, and the one I could always turn to," says Michael. "He taught me how to sing and instilled in me a love for gospel music. My world will never be the same. Thank you so much for your outpouring of love and prayers."

Aubine owned and operated a music store, Biney's Music, in Wallace N.C., for many years and was a member at Corinth Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lena; his sons, Michael and wife, Marcie of Nashville, Tenn., and Biney and wife, Beverly of Teachey, N.C.;  grandchildren, Jessica English Whitley, Megan Cook and husband, Keith, Sean English and Isabella English;  great-grandchildren, Alexis Whitley, Madison Whitley, Asia Whitley, Chloe Whitley, Macie Whitley, Stella Cook and Ruby Cook and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved Aubine dearly.
