RURAL ROOTS
Though he is best known within the contemporary Christian genre, Steven Curtis Chapman was raised in rural Kentucky and has a deep love for folk and bluegrass. Giving a nod to his origins, Steven has released the 12-track CD Deep Roots (Cracker Barrel/CB Music), featuring inventive collaborations with bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs, some of Nashville’s finest musicians and members of Chapman’s own family — his father, brother Herb, son Caleb and daughter-in-law Jillian. Listeners will enjoy the familiar lyrics of “He Touched Me,” “Blessed Assurance,” “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and other classics. This uniquely personal album is currently available at Cracker Barrel stores.
