Homecoming Magazine was delighted to attend three sessions of the inaugural "Something Beautiful" women's conference, held at the gorgeous Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tenn., during the last weekend of August. What started as the spark of an idea in Melissa Brady's heart (artist/songwriter and wife of the Booth Brothers' Jim Brady), became a worshipful weekend featuring great music, hilarious comedy, insightful speakers--and women of all ages laughing, crying and enjoying a relaxing time together.
Melissa gave a short speech welcoming everyone to the first session Thursday evening. Wiping away tears, she said, "I said I wasn't going to cry the whole weekend!" She went on to say that since the event planning began, she and others had been praying for every woman who would attend.
The weekend offered something for everyone, from the music of the Booth Brothers, Melissa Brady, Solveig Leithaug and many others; to the hilarious comedy of Chonda Pierce, who kept the ladies in stitches discussing hot flashes, husbands and much more; to engaging speakers including Leighann McCoy and Gloria Gaither. Gloria has always been a wonderful communicator and she did not disappoint, explaining the full story of the background of the powerful song, "Because He Lives."
We have not yet heard if plans are underway to continue the conference next year, but we certainly hope so! To stay informed, visit Jim and Melissa Brady's website and follow Melissa on her Facebook page.
