Southern Gospel Artists Honored at 2016 BMI Christian Awards

Nashville, TN — On Tuesday, June 21, 2016, BMI honored the songwriters and publishers of the top 25 songs of the past year played on Christian radio.

The invitation-only event, held at their Nashville offices on Music Row, also included a special tribute to the late Joe Moscheo, music executive and former member of the Imperials.

Among the songs honored at the event was "Because He Lives (Amen)," the very popular song recorded by Matt Maher and inspired by Bill and Gloria Gaither's classic church favorite, "Because He Lives."

The writers and publishers of the following Southern Gospel songs were also honored at the event:
