Texas Homecoming Spectacular 2015

Bill and Gloria Gaither, along with thousands of their closest friends raised the roof last weekend during the Texas Homecoming Spectacular held at the majestic Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano. After many years of holding the event in Fort Worth, many fans were surprised at the move. But Prestonwood’s Plano campus proved to be an ideal setting for the weekend of concerts.

Prestonwood’s own 500-voice choir joined the fun, adding background vocals to the weekend’s stellar lineup which included the Gaither Vocal Band, the Booth Brothers, the Isaacs, Lynda Randle, the Nelons, Karen Peck & New River, Charlotte Ritchie, Buddy Greene, Angela Primm and more.

In a recent Homecoming Magazine article, Bill Gaither reflected on his choice of Texas as the locale for this annual event. “Historically Texas has been a hot spot for gospel music, dating all the way back to the Stamps Music days in Dallas. A lot of people may consider Texas ‘the Wild West’  and a bit independent, but a lot of great art has originated in Texas, including a number of beloved Gaither Vocal Band members, including Guy Penrod, Mark Lowry and David Phelps. So we have a lot of friends and a lot of history in this great state, and they always come out with Texas-sized enthusiasm.”

With gorgeous weather all weekend, two grand evenings of uplifting music, and Homecoming family and friends all around, this year’s event truly was … well, spectacular! If you weren't able to make it this year, we hope you'll join in the fun next year!
