In November, the Chuck Wagon Gang celebrated 75 years at a series of special concerts in Nashville — including appearances at the historic Ernest Tubb Record Shop, the Midnight Jamboree at the Texas Troubadour Theater and at the Country Music Hall Of Fame.

On November 25 and 26, 1936, the Chuck Wagon Gang made their first recordings in a small studio set up in a hotel room at the Gunter Hotel in San Antonio, Texas. Their 1948 recording of “I’ll Fly Away” is considered the first million-seller by a Southern Gospel group.

The current Chuck Wagon Gang is Stan Hill, Shaye Smith, Julie Combs Hudson and Jeremy Stephens.
