I cried my way through your tribute to our military past
and present [in the May/June issue] and wanted to express
my gratitude to you for such a great tribute. I was not
one of the heroes in the sense of being on the front lines
or being wounded, but I entered active duty with the U.S.
Navy straight out of high school in August 1965 and retired
27 years later. I continued my support by working with the
Army Science Board and Air Force Studies Board of the
National Academy of Sciences from May 1993 till mid-2009.
It is great to see the support gospel groups have for our military,
as well as many other unsung heroes as was done so well
with the Isaacs’ hit about unsung heroes. Thank you again.
