The 2013 Singing News Fan Awards ceremony was held Wednesday, October 2, in Dollywood. We'd like to offer our congratulations to all the winners! Here are a few highlights from the event:
The fans showed their love for the Perrys this year: Libbi Perry Stuffle was chosen as Favorite Female Vocalist of the Year and Favorite Alto Singer of the Year, and the Perrys' song "I Got a Hold of God This Morning" was the Favorite Song of the Year. Libbi received a standing ovation when she accepted the award for Favorite Female Vocalist and shared with the fans how this year has been the most difficult of her life, but that nothing is impossible with God. She dedicated her award to her husband Tracy, who has very recently been able to return home after 8 1/2 months in the hospital and rehab following a stroke and multiple complications.
A little later in the program, the Perrys performed "I Got a Hold of God This Morning" and Tracy joined the group through FaceTime, singing bass as Libbi held the phone right up to the microphone.
The Booth Brothers were also big winners, taking home the top spot in the categories of Favorite Artist of the Year, Favorite Trio of the Year and Favorite Album of the Year, as well as individual awards for Ronnie Booth, Michael Booth and Jim Brady. The guys were grateful and showed a humble attitude; as Ronnie accepted his award for Favorite Lead Singer, he shared the advice he gives to young singers: "Seek ye first the kingdom, and He will take care of the rest." When accepting the award for Favorite Trio, Michael and the guys used the opportunity to pay tribute to one of their forerunners, the Couriers Quartet.
Olivia Collingsworth's win for Favorite Young Artist of the Year marked an unprecedented winning streak that is unlikely to be repeated--the Collingsworth Family has now had four consecutive "Young Artist" winners! Phil Collingsworth remarked later in the show that it is a joy to have four children who have fallen in love with this music ... and the fans are certainly glad too! The Collingsworths were also honored to win Favorite Mixed Group of the year and Favorite Musician (Kim).
We are excited for everyone who won this year, and without further ado, here's the complete list of winners!
